Why doesn’t it sit perfectly?Updated 15 days ago

If your wig doesn’t feel like it sits perfectly straight away, this is completely normal.

Wigs are not one-size-fits-all and often require adjustment, positioning, and styling to achieve the most natural fit.

Why your wig may not sit perfectly at first

There are several common reasons:

1. Head shape and fit
Every head shape is different.

  • Wigs are designed to fit a general size range
  • Small adjustments are often needed for the best fit
  • Positioning slightly forward or back can change the overall look

2. Placement of the wig
Even a small shift in placement can affect how the wig sits.

  • Too far forward can feel unnatural
  • Too far back can affect the hairline
  • Adjusting the position can improve balance and shape

3. Lace and hairline adjustment
If your wig has lace:

  • It may need to be customised to your hairline
  • The lace needs to sit flush against the skin
  • Cutting or adjusting should only be done once you are confident

4. Density and volume

If your wig feels bulky or sits differently:

  • Higher density wigs may feel fuller at first
  • Volume may need to be shaped or styled
  • The wig can settle with wear and light styling

5. Styling and shaping

Wigs are not always ready-to-wear exactly like photos.

  • They may need brushing or reshaping
  • Parting may need adjusting
  • Movement and flow improve once styled

What most customers don’t realise

Even high-end wigs:

  • Do not sit perfectly straight out of the box
  • Require personal adjustment to suit your face
  • May feel different until you get used to wearing them

This is part of the normal wig experience.

How to improve the fit

You can improve how your wig sits by:

  • Adjusting the straps or fit inside the cap
  • Repositioning slightly on your head
  • Gently styling or reshaping the hair
  • Ensuring the wig is sitting flat and secure

Setting realistic expectations

  • A wig will not automatically fit like natural hair instantly
  • Personal adjustment is part of achieving the final look
  • The same wig can sit differently on each person

Our recommendation

Before making any permanent changes:

  • Try different positioning
  • Wear the wig a few times to get comfortable
  • Contact us if you need guidance

Small adjustments can make a significant difference.

Important

Fit and positioning are part of the wearing process and are not considered faults. We recommend trying adjustments before making any alterations, as worn or altered wigs cannot be returned.
